Hello,
I heard this one on Instagram and it really touched me.
As an introvert (with extrovert tendencies when I train or teach), I default a lot of times to not speaking my mind. Usually only when I have a strong opinion, I will speak up. And don't get me started when someone says, "Sharon, you've been quiet, what do you have share?"
It totally brings me back to elementary school during parent-teacher conferences when the teacher talks about how quiet I am. So, it ends with them asking me, "So, will you promise to participate in discussions?" and me dutifully answering, "Yes."
I even have proof, it was written each time in the parent-teacher conference report, three times a year.
Back to the quote, so since I default to silence, I often get frustrated because I am "disappointed" and then resentment sets in.
Being a psych major, I am all about analysing myself (constantly) on why I do what I do and what can I do to change my behavior. I need to speak up more and ask for what I need.
