Hello,
This is this week's quote:
I believe this with all of my heart. My mom and grandma (my mom's mom) were the strongest women I have ever know. If I can be half as strong as they were, I would be happy to have achieved even that much. My grandma was an orphan and became a "housegirl" for another family at the age of 8. I remember her talking about how she would cook, clean, and take care of the kids.
I think I got my love for learning from her. She embraced learning new things, figuring out how to do things on her own, and taught herself a lot.
My mom became a widow at 42 and raised 7 girls all by herself. She inspired us all to focus on school, graduate from college, and be successful in our work. She only went up to elementary school, and I think she just wanted us to be able to do what she couldn't, and be able to enjoy life while we were young. I admired her drive for life, how she always enjoyed lending a helping hand, and her love for her family. I definitely got my love for cooking and my drive to help others whenever possible from my mom.
