Hello,
I was inspired by Carol Benning to try this technique. I've done Gatefold cards before and used a belly band, but I loved the look of this card with a sliding lock instead.
Start with the base card measuring 5-1/2" x 81/2", scored at 2-1/8" and 6-3/8" with Misty Moonlight cardstock.
Then, adhere a piece of Basic White measuring 3-3/4" x 5" for the inside to write in.
Then, you need two pieces of Designer Series Paper (DSP) measuring 2" X 5-1/4." Unfortunately, the Butterfly Bijou DSP is no longer available, but you can use any DSP that uses coordinating colors.
To make the sliding lock, you will need two of the largest circles from the Stitched Shapes dies, and two circles punched from the 2-1/4" circle punch.
Fold both smaller circles in half so they look like the picture below.
Then, use liquid glue to adhere it to one of the larger circles and then "sandwich" it with the other larger circle to make the slider look like this.
Then you slide the lock so each side of the gate fold card is held down. Then you can adhere a butterfly to the front of the lock. The lock can slide up and down the opening.
Here are two other cards that I used the same formula, but with squares instead of circles. The one on the left has the square straight and the one on the right the square is turned to make it diagonal.
Here is how the locks look with the smaller squares folded. You will "sandwich" them between the two larger squares.
Click the video below to watch as I show you how to make this card. I hope you like it.
Thank you for checking in!
Looking forward to sharing more with you next time.
